» Big 3 automakers using bailout money to sue California
Step 1: Ignore consumer demand for cleaner, more fuel efficient cars.
Step 2: Go bankrupt because nobody buys your shitty cars.
Step 3: Ask for and receive bailout money from taxpayers.
Step 4: Use said bailout money to stop California from mandating cleaner, more fuel efficient cars.
The sad part here is that the auto companies actually have a good case. There’s this thing called the “dormant commerce clause” that makes the California emissions law unconstitutional, even though the Obama administration is granting a waiver. I’ll explain it better when I stop crying.
Fuck these guys. Fuck them.
It’s a race to the bottom! Who’s worse now? Finance companies who pay out bonuses to individuals or automakers suing California with bailout money?
